With the huge number of posts out there already talking about why the conference is a “must attend” I thought we’d give you some tips on how to stretch your conference budget!
Airfare: The event is held in downtown Chicago – There are 2 major airports you can fly into MDW or ORD – both will get you to where you need to go and the price differences can be significant. You can take the blue line from the airport to downtown then Cab it to the hotel. It will save you time and money – especially in rush hour.
Hotel: The conference hotel is a gorgeous hotel – it is also very expensive. If you take a look on hotels.com or any other site you will see that they are all pretty high the week the conferences is in town. Don’t worry – use Priceline’s Name your own price option – select Loop/Grant Park area and 4 star – Bid around $125, if it gets declined, select 3.5 star and bid $135. I’ve never paid more than that and have gotten the conference hotel a few times – this year we ended up just a few blocks away so we can still easily walk to the Hyatt for the free shuttle back and forth
Tickets: We will give you a free expo pass HERE or use some of the discount codes that are out there to save $500 on the full conference pass. I actually attended my first 4 events on an Expo only pass since my company then wouldn’t pay for me to attend. I loved how much I was able to learn about the future of technology and networking simply by talking to the booths and other attendee’s walking the floor
Food: Grab yourself some famous Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza or a Chicago Style Hot Dog for an authentic taste of the city. But don’t pass up launch parties or events you may get an invite to – that is where the GOOD food is!
SWAG!!!: Tons of vendors will have ipads, ipods, netbooks and more – but us? Well, we are giving away a designer handbag – I mean, what good are all those gadgets without something fancy to carry it in. But you’re a guy? Well, I’m sure you have someone that would love it – wife, girlfriend, sister, mom, boss, secretary….you get the point!
