HR Technology Conference on a Budget

by HRMDirect on September 9, 2010

With the huge number of posts out there already talking about why the conference is a “must attend” I thought we’d give you some tips on how to stretch your conference budget!

Airfare:  The event is held in downtown Chicago – There are 2 major airports you can fly into MDW or ORD – both will get you to where you need to go and the price differences can be significant.  You can take the blue line from the airport to downtown then Cab it to the hotel.  It will save you time and money – especially in rush hour.

Hotel: The conference hotel is a gorgeous hotel – it is also very expensive.  If you take a look on hotels.com or any other site you will see that they are all pretty high the week the conferences is in town.  Don’t worry – use Priceline’s Name your own price option – select Loop/Grant Park area and 4 star – Bid around $125, if it gets declined, select 3.5 star and bid $135.  I’ve never paid more than that and have gotten the conference hotel a few times – this year we ended up just a few blocks away so we can still easily walk to the Hyatt for the free shuttle back and forth

Tickets: We will give you a free expo pass HERE or use some of the discount codes that are out there to save $500 on the full conference pass.  I actually attended my first 4 events on an Expo only pass since my company then wouldn’t pay for me to attend.  I loved how much I was able to learn about the future of technology and networking simply by talking to the booths and other attendee’s walking the floor

Food: Grab yourself some famous Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza or a Chicago Style Hot Dog for an authentic taste of the city.  But don’t pass up launch parties or events you may get an invite to – that is where the GOOD food is!

SWAG!!!:  Tons of vendors will have ipads, ipods, netbooks and more – but us?  Well, we are giving away a designer handbag – I mean, what good are all those gadgets without something fancy to carry it in.  But you’re a guy?  Well, I’m sure you have someone that would love it – wife, girlfriend, sister, mom, boss, secretary….you get the point!

So come visit us in booth 957 and check out our newest version of Applicant Tracking released this summer and our new Onboarding solution for small to mid size companies!

Monday Morning: The week of 8/23/10

by HRMDirect on August 23, 2010

Here are the “Top 3″ going on in HRM’s world this week!

  • TalentNet Live – This week, catch our Chief Strategy Officer, Sarah White, Speaking at TNL Live on HR Technology Selection with Rayanne Thorne from Broadbean Technology.  If you are in the Dallas Area or still have interest in attending – email Sarah at SWhite@HRMDirect.com for a discount pass.
  • Implementations!  With 4 HUGE wins so far this month and more slated before the end of the week – this week is all about implementations, client onboarding & training!  Unlike many other solutions – we typcially go from contract signing to LIVE! in just days, not weeks or months.
  • Blogging!!!  We had a great soft launch of HRMOndemand blog last month & are ready to let loose with our “normal” blogging schedule 9/1/10.  This new schedule will include our Monday “Top 3″ each week,   a “Wednesday HR Words Wrap up”  of the top blog post for the week previously and finish with our Friday “Why we love HR” post.  Mixed in will me tips, advice & posts about whatever other random things our employee’s want to talk about.

So…That is what is going on in our world!  What is going on in yours that everyone should hear about?
